Dr Dillon Cheah provides comprehensive psychiatric assessment and treatment services, primarily for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, eating disorders and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. He consults with patients at both his St Leonards and Brookvale rooms, and has admitting privileges to the specialised Mood and Eating Disorders Units at Northside Group St Leonards Clinic.
Dr Dillon Cheah is a warm and approachable general adult psychiatrist who obtained his medical qualifications at the University of Sydney. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, having trained at leading institutions such as St Vincent’s Hospital, Royal North Shore Hospital and Prince of Wales Hospital. He has extensive experience working in both private and public sectors, including holding a Staff Specialist position at the Herbert St Detoxification Unit at Royal North Shore Hospital. Dr Cheah has a special interest in Psychotherapy and holds qualifications in Psychodynamic Interpersonal Psychotherapy (The Conversational Model).
Committed to the highest levels of care, his approach is holistic and thorough, and is strongly informed by Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. He is committed to ensuring his skills and knowledge are kept up to date, with treatment derived from the best available evidence. He recognises that optimal treatment is often multi-dimensional and that the journey to recovery requires support, nurturing and hope.
