$8 million mental health redevelopment opens in Sydney's fastest growing region

Macarthur MP Dr Mike Freelander and Ramsay Health Care Australia CEO Danny Sims officially opened a new 23 bed mental health wing at Northside Group Macarthur Clinic on Monday 26 August at 3pm.
The specially-designed ward is part of an $8 million project to further enhance the clinic's capacity to provide excellent clinical care for the local community. Northside Group Macarthur Clinic CEO Anne Mortimer said: "The south-west Sydney corridor is the fastest growing geographical region in Sydney."
"The creation of this new unit will assist us to meet the current and future demands of this rapidly growing population," Ms Mortimer said. Along with 23 new rooms, all existing shared rooms at the clinic have been converted to single bedrooms with ensuites.
This has transformed the clinic into a 48 bed facility. This project has also included the refurbishment of the day service area and nursing office,an expansion of the dining room, new artwork throughout the entire clinic, a revamped outpatient waiting area and new courtyards. "These areas were refurbished using a lot of greenery to create an optimistic and therapeutic environment. It allows for additional pockets of tranquillity for patients," Ms Mortimer said. Northside Group Macarthur Clinic offers patients a holistic program to help treat general mental health conditions including depression and anxiety and personality and trauma related disorders.
"It has served the community exceptionally well over the past six years. Staff and doctors are really positive about the changes and look forward to continuing to deliver excellent mental health care and treatment to the Macarthur region," Ms Mortimer said.
